Adorable Kitty Needs Your Help!

A friend of C.A.R.E. contacted us about this adorable orange guy who she found  outside right before the hurricane.  He was with a friend, but that kitty found her own forever home.  The lady took him in as a foster, but he needs a forever home too.  He also has some issues with his teeth that will need addressing, so the person who takes him in must also being willing to help him with his special needs. He deserves a chance and will only be placed in a loving home. He is a young male, neutered, and seems to be very sweet. If you can help, please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com.

Can you resist this face? Give him a loving home!

14th Annual Spay A Stray Pet Walk

It's time again for C.A.R.E.'s annual Spay A Stray Pet Walk! It's hard to believe that the walk is here again, but that means it is the spring. And it means that we will be out and about meeting our friends for this yearly event. The walk will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10am to 1pm. The walk is at FDR Park (Broad and Pattison Aves.) Philadelphia, PA. There will be games, refreshments, and a toy for each pet on the day of the walk. Wendy Young, professional dog trainer and a friend of C.A.R.E, will also be there again this year to give complimentary lessons to your pets. Bring your friends and family (especially the ones with 4 feet). Please help make our 14th annual walk a success. All proceeds benefit our spay/neuter program and are tax deductible. If you have any questions or would like to to be a walker, please call 215-462-1889. You can walk with or without a pet. If you can't walk, you can sponsor a walker. Or you can sponsor the spaying or neutering of an animal. We hope to see you at the park!

I am wishing that we see you at the walk this year!

Mya Update

 Adopted!

Original Post
A friend of ours asked us to post some more information about Mya, the adorable kitten that was found in the Poconos. Mya was spayed and she is making an excellent recovery. She is also now up to date on shots including rabies and is FIV/FELV. She is a little cutie and is still looking for her forever home. If you would like to adopt Mya, please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com.

Little Miss Mya

A friend of CARE asked us to post these pictures of Mya, a sweet kitten she recently found.

Mya is about 4 months old and is a tabby. She is an absolutely gorgeous cat. Our friend found her on a farm in the Poconos. Mya was emaciated and freezing when our friend discovered her. But she must have known that our friend was going to take her out of that situation because she jumped right in the car and was ready to go!

Our friend said that Mya is one of the sweetest kittens she has ever encountered. She's a lap cat and she always sleeps curled up against your legs. She gets along very well with other cats, but she seems to be afraid of dogs. She is litterbox trained and eats dry and wet food. She was lucky enough to find a person who wanted to help her. Now she needs a forever home. Please give her a home! She will have all shots and be spayed before adoption. Please look at Mya's pictures... and admit it, you know you will fall in love with her! If you would like to adopt Mya, please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com.

Adoption Day Follow Up

Rocky

C.A.R.E. had an adoption day yesterday, October 7, 2011, in front of Queen Village Animal Hospital. We wanted to find some homes for our rescues, and we also wanted to meet people and talk about our spay and neuter program. We brought Rocky and Valerie with us; both of these cats are still looking for their special homes. Rocky was a star. He really liked it when people came by to pet him. He's about four years old and he has a food allergy, so he needs to eat special food. He's fine other than his allergy, so he'll make a great companion for someone who can give him a home.

Valerie

Valerie has come with us to adoptions before, so she's a professional now. She knows that when she sits in her cage and looks adorable, nobody can resist her pretty face. Before long, Valerie ends up getting some attention. She's about a year old, and she's looking for her forever family.

If you're interested in adopting Rocky or Valerie, Please email carephilly@gmail.com or call 215-462-1889.

C.A.R.E. Adoption Day 10/7/11

On Friday, October 7, 2011, C.A.R.E. will be in front of Queen Village Animal Hospital (323 Bainbridge Street- Philadelphia, PA). We've recently found some lovely homes for our rescues, and we would like to find even more homes. We'll be there after 9:30 a.m. It looks like the weather is going to be gorgeous, so unless that changes, we'll be there. We love meeting people and talking to them about our animals and about our spay and neuter program. If you're interested in adopting a new friend with four feet, or if you have questions about spaying and neutering, please stop by and talk to us.

A Home for the Boys!

We are pleased to announce that Simon and Theodore have found their forever home! These two brothers have been waiting for three years for a special place of their own. The waiting paid off because they found the best home in the world. We are so happy that our two snuggly guys have a family now. Hooray!

More Friends of the Family

I just got a phone call from another friend of C.A.R.E. She told me that she rescued 5 kittens. They were found in a box in the parking lot of a shopping center. Someone apparently simply left them there. Thank goodness that my friend was shopping today and that her friend told her about these babies. The kittens are safe and are being fostered. Their foster mom said that they seem to be doing well, and that they will be ready for forever homes soon. They are probably about 4-5 weeks old now. These cats are not C.A.R.E. cats, but the friend asked me to post information about them here on Sam Sez and on Facebook. If you're interested in adopting one (or two or three), contact carephilly@gmail.com. Pictures of these cute kitties will follow soon. I'm working on getting their cute fuzzy faces up on this site.

Friends of the Family

A friend asked if I could post some pictures to C.A.R.E.'s blog. These pictures are of two wonderful cats that need a home. They are not being fostered by C.A.R.E., but they need their forever home(s), and I thought that I could put out the word. Their owner can no longer care for them, and they are likely to be put down if a family is not found. Their names are Pixie and Pooky, and they are 7 year old male kitties. They can be separated if necessary, but if a loving person can take both of these boys, that would be even better.

Pooky is a special needs cat. He is a diabetic and he must have 2 shots of insulin a day. His owner said that she is willing to pay for his medicine for a year if the right person came along to give him a home. He is very sweet and affectionate; he adores having his belly scratched and rubbed. He actually lies down and waits for you to scratch his belly! He loves when it's bed time because he loves to sleep at your feet. What more can you ask for in a fur friend? Since he has special needs, he needs a special person. If you're that person, PLEASE HELP! E-mail carephilly@gmail.com for more information.

The guy in the pictures below is Pixie, and he also needs a home. Pixie is 7 years old and he likes to play with little spongy balls. He insists on being close to you when he is sleeping. He is a sweetie pie, and he is very affectionate. He jumps onto your lap! What can be better in this life than having a cat who likes to jump onto your lap? Once again, even though he and Pooky are friends, they can be separated if necessary. If you can take both of these guys, that would make their day. Please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com if you are interested in giving Pixie and/or Pooky a home. You can also find us and like us on Facebook.

Another Adoption Day for C.A.R.E. Cats

Summer has been pretty wonderful so far, especially for C.A.R.E. adoption days. We were at Queen Village Animal Hospital again last week. Once again, we were in the front of the office meeting nice people and trying to find forever homes for our wonderful kitties. Now that Panda has found his home, Simon and Theodore are looking forward to finding their special family too. As you can see, they love each other very much. That's why it's so important that they find a home together. We can't separate these guys. They're best friends. They snuggle (like they are in this picture) all of the time. So they truly want to be together for life.

Valerie joined us again, and many people who stopped by thought she was the sweetest thing in the world. She is indeed! All you have to do is look at her adorable face. Now tell us you're not in love!

If the weather is calm, you can look for us outside Queen Village. We're usually there on Saturdays, weather permitting. If it's too hot for you, it's probably too hot for the animals too. So we'll be there only if the weather allows. We'll try to post in advance when we'll do another adoption. Look out for the days, as we sometimes do adoptions during the week. Until then, visit our Petfinder site to see more C.A.R.E. cats who are looking for their special friend. We also have some animals that are not pictured on our websites. Please call the C.A.R.E. line for information on these pets. You can reach us at (215) 462-1889. Or drop us a line at one of our two email addresses-carephilly@gmail.com or careinc@live.com.

13th Annual Spay A Stray Pet Walk

It is time again for the pet walk! The C.A.R.E. 13th Annual Spay A Stray Pet Walk will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011. The time of the walk is 10AM-1PM Rain or Shine at FDR Park (Broad and Pattison Aves.) Philadelphia, PA. We will be at the Broad St. Entrance. There is a $25 registration fee for all walkers. All proceeds will benefit the spay and neuter program. Please call 215-462-1889 to register. Bring your dogs and your friends for a great day at the park. Not only will you have fun, but you will also help homeless animals. We will also have a professional dog trainer, card readings, toy for each registered pet, games and prizes, and treats. If you can't come to the park, but you'd still like to help, please call the number mentioned above or email us at carephilly@gmail.com. There are many ways to help. Remember, one of the best ways to help is by providing a loving forever home to one of our beautiful animals.

We're ready for our forever home!

Saturday and Sunday are still available for adoption! They are now spayed and up to date on their shots. They are ready for their forever home. They are double the love and must stay together. Even though the girls are 6 months old now, they are still playful, fun kittens. Please give them love and take them home!! You'll never regret it. Let them bring you happiness, luck, and joy. If you are interested in adopting Saturday and Sunday, Please e-mail us at carephilly@gmail.com or call 215-879-8645.

Two movie stars

Move over, Mary-Kate and Ashley! The Onyx Twins are here! Saturday and Sunday will steal the show! They are two precious sisters still looking for their forever home. They are beautiful with their shiny black and white coats. They are regal and lovely, and they are two special ladies indeed. They are a little bit older now than then last time we featured them. They are still kittens though.

They are full of energy, and more importantly, they are full of love. All they want to do is share that love with a special person. We know that it's not always easy to take two kittens at a time. However, we cannot separate these twins now. They are best friends, and they love each other very much. They wouldn't know what to do without the other. If you watch them play and snuggle with each other, you would be able to tell right away that they couldn't bear to be apart. You wouldn't want to be taken away from your best friend, would you? Well Saturday and Sunday want to stay together too. Besides, having two cute kitties will brighten you day; they will give you double the amount of love. Can't you please be the one who takes these sisters? We know the person who opens his or her home will have to be a special person.

And we only want a special person to contact us. Some people might think that black cats are bad luck. But isn't that ridiculous to think that way in 2010? Look at the faces of these kittens. How can they be anything but angels in disguise? Let them come into your life and be your special good luck charms. Do not reply unless you are a serious, responsible pet owner. We make home visits, and we check references. We will not adopt to people who will not provide the proper home, or who will not love these babies for life! Please e-mail us at carephilly@gmail.com or call 215-879-8645. Do something wonderful. Give these two girls a home.

Take me home

Please help Grey. He is about 4 years old, and is a leukemia positive cat that is in urgent need of a home. He's doing really well, even though he is positive. If he doesn't find a home soon, he is going to be put down. He's not going to be put to sleep because he is positive; rather he is being put down because he is no longer wanted. His owner has to move, and the people where she is moving don't want Grey. He was originally rescued from the streets by his owner. He survived the city streets and he must have thought that he found his forever home when the lady took him in. Now he is facing the biggest battle of his life, because he has to find a home before his time runs out. It is a shame that he is going be put down because nobody will give him a home. He is loving and would be a great pal. He just needs a lot of attention and love. He will give you back love and attention. Since he is positive, he has to be placed in a home with another leukemia positive cat, or in a home by himself. If you are truly an animal lover, and you have a means to help Grey, please contact us ASAP. Grey will be put down very soon if a home is not found. True animal lovers will want to help this guy if they can. It's not fair that his life has to be over because he is unwanted. Contact us by going to our petfinder page at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/PA166.html where you will see more information about Grey and our other animals, or email us at carephilly@gmail.com or careinc@live.com. Contact phone number is on the petfinder page. This plea for Grey's life is one of our biggest pleas. Please help us give this wonderful cat another chance to live.

Twins!!

Just look at our twins! Saturday and Sunday are adorable sisters. They were found on a Saturday and rescued on a Sunday. That's how they got their names. They are about 11 weeks old, and are playful and fun just as kittens are supposed to be. They love doing everything together, and snuggle with each other every day.

Saturday and Sunday are a cute couple of black kittens (with a patch of white on their chests) who not only love each other, but they also love their foster mom.

Their mom can't keep them forever though. These girls need a special family who will love them for life! Since they are twins, and since they adore each other so much, they would probably do best if they were kept together. However, we will consider splitting them up for the right person and to the right home. If you are looking for two kitties, these girls would be perfect for you. They both have great personalities and will keep you smiling for years to come. They are too precious for words, and you'd have to see them to understand just how truly special they are.

We only adopt to responsible pet owners who have vet references and who are willing to take the time and the patience to care for these cuties. If you'd like to adopt Saturday and Sunday, please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com or call 215-879-8645. You can also find us on petfinder.com under Compassionate Animal Relief Effort. If a kitten is too much for you to handle at this time, consider adopting one of our older cats. You can find the awesome animals we have in our care on the petfinder page. After all, older pets deserve good homes too!

The Lost One

Meet Solo. She was found poking around a garbage can on a patio. Solo was all by herself. No mom, no siblings, no people. She seemed so lonely and afraid. Her foster mom took her in and cleaned her up and gave her some food and some mother's cat milk. Solo is about 12 weeks old, and she is a beautiful little girl. She needs a home....and once you meet her, you will want that home to be yours. How can you look at such a beautiful girl and not want to snuggle her? She had a rough start, so she should find a terrific family who can give her all of the love in the world. If you'd like to adopt Solo, please email us at carephilly@gmail.com or call 215-879-8645.

Stella, the Diva Kitty

Miss Stella went for a ride in the car today. She is the sweetest little kitty, and too pretty for words. These photos don't do her justice. She is still looking for her forever home. She is lovable, and enjoys being held. She will snuggle right into you, and purr in your ear. We think she might end up being someone's lap cat. She is so terrific that she truly deserves to find a family who will love her forever. She gives nothing but love, and should receive love in return.

Stella did very well in the car, and didn't get sick or scared. Miss Stella is a diva. She's fabulous, and she knows it! She likes showing off, playing with her sisters, and especially getting attention from her foster mom. A diva wants royal treatment! That's why she needs to be placed in a home where her people will love her, pamper her, and take care of her forever. If you need a smile on your face, or you need to laugh a little, Stella is the one for the job. Though she does well with other pets, we think she would greatly enjoy being the only pet--simply because she has to be the one who takes center stage! How can you resist such a cute little girl? If you'd like to adopt Stella, please contact us at carephilly@gmail.com or call her foster mom at 215-879-8645. Stella is waiting for you!

Little Ones

The little ones still need homes! They are all starting to develop great personalities. They need their own families, though. Please call us or e-mail us if you would like to open your home to one of our kittens. Or maybe you can take two! Our cute little girl pictured here has a sister who looks just like her. They pal around together, and would like to go to a home together if possible. If you can only take one, we will understand that as well. There is also a gray sister and a gray and white sister. Give these girls a chance. Their foster mom can't keep them, and they're too wonderful not to get families of their own. Please e-mail us at carephilly@gmail.com, or call 215-879-8645.

Kittens, Kittens, Everywhere!

Once again in this blog, we have to mention that we still have some kittens available for adoption. All of the kittens are girls. We discovered this information during their first vet visit. The kittens are now nine weeks old, and are in desperate need of loving homes. Though one of the C.A.R.E. volunteers is fostering the girls, she won't be able to do so for much longer. The cats all have great personalities, and they act like true kittens that love to explore, run, jump, and play. They are all very cute, and we just know they're going to grow up to be pretty girls. We just haven't been able to find special homes for our special girls.

We really try very hard to place pets with families who'll love them for life. Taking in a new pet, especially a puppy or a kitten, isn't about giving temporary love. When a person commits to being a pet owner, it's a commitment that the person makes for the pet's entire life. Sure, kittens and puppies are adorable. It's a great time for everyone. Watching them grow and watching the cute things that they do when they are little is something that people will never forget; however, kittens and puppies grow up and will need the same amount of love and attention when they become adults. If you want to adopt a kitten or a puppy from C.A.R.E. or another organization, make sure you're aware that you will need to be responsible for that animal for the rest of its life.

This year has been a very difficult one to place unwanted animals. As always, and because of the careless acts of people, there are too many homeless animals in the streets and in shelters. It's sad for us to think that our wonderful little kittens don't have homes yet--that no one can take them in. We ask that if you can provide a good home for any of our girls, that you please contact us immediately. These kittens need your help. If you spent just a few minutes with any of them, you'd be in love. Please do what you can. If you can't adopt one of these cats, simply pass on the information in this blog and ask someone you know who might be able to adopt. Please only ask responsible and caring pet owners.

You can e-mail us at carephilly@gmail.com, or call 215-879-8645. The pictures of the kittens appear in the previous post. Or you can click on the Petfinder link in this blog to see these kittens and all of our adoptable pets.
